A New Youth and Community Hub in Austin
On February 25, 2023, BUILD opened our renovated Austin campus to the public, bringing to life a long-time community dream. After years of planning and two of construction, our former 10,000 sq. ft. offices have transformed into 60,000 sq feet of new and renovated space, surrounded by playfields and gardens.
It is a haven where youth can feel safe and loved, engaging BUILD’s many integrated services in one place – from art and sports to conflict mediation and mental health care. Mentors help youth find hope, begin healing, discover talents, and explore futures.
The campus is also built as a vital resource to the wider community, offering free Wi-Fi, a café, affordable workspaces, and meeting rooms.
Campus Highlights:
- Gym, track, and fitness center with locker rooms, private showers, and laundry
- Public café powered by Momentum Coffee (opening April)
- STEM workshops: a Fab Lab™ Makers Lab, wood shop, computer lab
- An acre of gardens, fruit trees, chickens, and a three-season Outdoor Education Center
- Art studios and galleries, recording studio, and flexible performance space
- Free, high-speed Wi-Fi (Comcast Lift Zone)
- The Peace and Justice Center: a space for community engagement, civics education, conflict mediation and restorative justice practice in the neighborhood
Located at Harrison and Laramie at Austin’s Southern Gateway, our transformed campus stands for growth, opportunity, joy, and every child’s right to grow up and achieve their potential.
