BUILD Announces Siobhan Sanders as New Board Chair
BUILD’s boards of directors have nominated Siobhan Sanders to become the next board chair, and she officially assumed the position on July 1, 2019. Siobhan Sanders has been a member of BUILD’s board of directors since 2012. Commenting on her appointment, Ms. Sanders said: “I joined the board because of the kids – I have a vested interest in making sure they are served. It is my responsibility.”
“Siobhan’s work has been invaluable and instrumental during a pivotal period for BUILD, as we have re-evaluated our strategy, prepared our organization for faster growth, and hired a number of experienced executives to lead the team,” says Adam Alonso, CEO of BUILD. “Siobhan provided successful leadership and guidance in key areas, including our decision to expand our services throughout the city. I welcome Siobhan, on behalf of our entire team, to formally become the chair of our board and work even more intensively supporting our long-term vision to help make our city safe for all of its young people”
Starting on our Associate Board in 2012, Siobhan continues a BUILD tradition of developing strong new leaders internally. Unhesitatingly investing her talent, she joined the governing board in 2014, and has taken on many of our most challenging assignments ever since. She was the Board’s unanimous choice to become our next Chair.
Siobhan works as Assistant Vice President of Compliance for Nuveen, a leading global investment firm. A graduate of DePaul University’s Keller Graduate School of Management, she is an active member of St. Sabina Catholic Church, a volunteer for the Ariel Education Initiative, and an active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.
