Fall Harvest Fest At BUILD
Fall is such a beautiful time of year in Chicago, but it seemingly goes by in the blink of an eye. On October 19, we had a great opportunity to stop and soak it in with members of the community at our Fall Harvest Fest.
Healthy living was the theme of the day with plenty of fresh food for all. We want to send a special thank you to chef Tsadakeeyah Emmanuel of Majani Restuaurant who provided a wonderful lunch of plant-based dishes. His menu included a Moroccan stew, consisting of eggplant, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, cabbage, garbanzo beans, black lentils, and tomatoes. Along with the stew, Emmanuel also prepared plant-based spicy chicken sandwiches and rice.
It was also a perfect fall day to stroll through our Iris Urban Farm and pick some fresh vegetables. And better yet, everybody who attended was able to take home some fresh vegetables from our food pavilion as well!
Along with fresh food, we enjoyed a variety of activities that engaged minds and bodies. With arts and crafts, yoga, stretching, massages, and sports – there was plenty to keep everybody moving. And we ended the day with a great workout doing some Zumba fitness dancing to some awesome tunes!
From spooky Halloween decorations, to sitting by the fire in our Peace Garden – we had everything we needed to enjoy the beauty of autumn. Thanks to everyone who came out and made our Fall Harvest Fest such a good time!
